123 positive cases of COVID-19

September 8, 2020

The Macon County Health Department announces nine new cases of COVID-19 in the county.  Four are female under the age of 19, one is a male under the age of 19, two are female age 50-59, one is male age 50-59 and one is female age 70-79.  Six cases are community spread and three are close household contacts.

These positives were reported after Saturday’s press release and contact investigations were completed through weekend.  The Macon County Health Department is working closely with the schools as necessary for positive cases.

At the time of this press release, the following reflects the cases of COVID-19 in the county –

  • 123 positive cases
  • 23 active positive cases
  • 2 hospitalized (included in the active case count)
  • 100 released from isolation

In the past 24 hours, the state of Missouri added 773 cases of COVID-19, bringing the state to 95,113 positive cases.

Those under quarantine should remain in quarantine for 14 days, since it can take up to 14 days for symptoms to begin, even with a negative test.  During quarantine it is important to remain in the home, and if possible, away from others in the household to prevent spread within the household.  Those on quarantine should monitor for symptoms and contact a health care provider or the health department if symptoms start to show.
