Early COVID-19 vaccine clinic

We will be opening at 7:30 am for a COVID-19 vaccine clinic.  We have your COVID-19 vaccine to help keep your family stay up to date!

Everyone is eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine if you have not had one after September 2023.  Vaccines continue to boost your immune system to provide protection against severe infection, hospitalization and death due to COVID-19.

The COVID-19 vaccination is safe to get at the same time as other respiratory vaccines, like the flu shot, saving you trips to the health department.

Bring your insurance card to receive your COVID-19 vaccine. If you have Medicare, including a supplement or advantage plan, please bring your red, white, and blue medicare card as well.

Call for an appointment at 660-395-4711 or walk in any time!

Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who’s choking and helpful information like what to do if there’s severe weather. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use CPR manikins to practice choking rescue and CPR!

Upcoming Classes

Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 9 am – 3 pm.

The cost is $40 and includes a bag with babysitting supplies.  Call to register at 660-395-4711 – the registration form and payment is due the week before the class to secure your spot.  There are 8 seats available for each class.

Classes will be at the Macon County Health Department.  Parents or representatives are asked to come at 2:45 for pick up to watch the graduation ceremony for your child.

Skills Your Child Will Learn

Safety Skills: Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies.

Child Care Skills: Students learn tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. Students also learn the ages and stages of child development, as well as practice diapering.

First Aid & Rescue Skills: Learning skills such as choking rescue and CPR is often students’ favorite part of the class. Students also learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses.

Life & Business Skills: The ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers will set students up for success now and in the future. Students practice these skills through various role play.
